Question

Image showing up as solid black or grey checkered

After installing the latest Photoshop CC update last night, Photoshop CC is not functioning the same and I am unable to edit photos.

Notable differences:

ALL image types open through Raw - when before it was only CR2 files.

After opening file through Raw - it opens solid black. When I move the window, I can see the image, but when I release it, it turns black again.

The image shows in the layers window.

What I have tried:

     Uninstalling/reinstalling

     rebooting

turning off graphic box in raw preferences to see if it was that

     resetting preferences

Nothing worked. Now, images don't show black, they show grey checkered.

I'm beyond frustrated.

Make sure you have the latest display device driver installed.  Try turning off GPU support in Photoshop preferences performance section.

How do I check to make sure that I have the latest driver installed? Before I posted the thread, I disengaged the GPU from the preference dialog box. As I mentioned in my original post, that is what caused the image to stop opening black and to start opening in gray and white checkered. Does that indicate something? I'm not sure all I know is it's certainly didn't solve it.

Since posting, I tried installing the 2017 version through CC. Even though that version worked before, it now won't. I did reinstall CS6 and it works. I'm about to the point of cancelling CC.
