Images have become an empty file. Can no longer open independantly or link into InDesign.

Hi, I am returning to a collected file for a reprint. Some of the images preview as an empty rectangle. I can no longer see the preview or open or have the link option in InDesign. The file names are there and when I get info there is only 4k of image data. Is there a way to fix this?
