Images not saving at 300 DPI

Whenever I save an image at 300 DPI and go back to open the file at another time - the file is actually saved at 72 DPI and enlarged wildly.

This has caused some issues for me when sending images to a client to be printed and what not.

Any ideas why I can't get the image to save at 300DPI?

Export/Save for Web strip resolution metadata altogether, the file saves without any ppi value at all. The 72 figure appears as a default number in the application you reopen the file in.

Use Save As, not export. Save retains the ppi number.
