improve response time

Hi

Is it common for a photoshop file, with many bezier shapes with layer styles applied to them, to be slow to edit the shape of these shapes?

is there a way to improve this response time when editing shapes? like ?

What version of Photoshop are you using? Are you working on a Mac or Windows machine and what OS?

How much RAM do you have allocated to PS? And, are you using any scratch disks?
