In the olden days... a.k.a. What key stops entering text and deletes the text element??

Back in the olden days, if you clicked near text with the text tool and unintentionally created a text object, you could press ESC and you would stop editing the text object and it would disappear from the layers/object list. This is no longer the case.

If you click somewhere with the text tool and unintentionally create a text object, it persists after you press ESC to stop editing it ... and leaves behind some Lorem Ipsum text just to spite you.

How can I either return to the old behavior, or use a keypress that will not only kick me out of edit mode, but also delete the erroneously created object??

Hi Terry,

Just press "V" to get the Move tool, and then hit the Delete key. The text layer will be gone from your Layers panel. Then you can press the "T" key to get back to the Text tool and keep on working.

Go into Preferences > Type and uncheck Use ESC key to commit text to make it work the way you want.

Got it - I was just hoping there was an easier way. ESC + V + Delete + T .... It used to be just ESC.
