Infrared and photoshop cc 2020

I am working on an image captured with an infrared filter, channel swapped in photoshop cc2020 but when I try to change the colour of one object in that image using the colour changer tool it doesn’t change the colour to what I choose only lightens it. Please can someone answer this for me. The colour replacer tool works fine on non infrared created images. I am currently working on an infrared project for my ARPS. Thanks.

The color replacement tool is a quick-and-dirty low precision tool, and pretty useless IMO. You have very little actual control over the result. I always remove it from the toolbar when setting up PS.

The smart and efficient way to do this is to make a selection/mask of the area you want to change, and work on it on a separate layer. Then you have Photoshop's full arsenal of ways to alter it, with much more control, and you can go back and readjust if you make mistakes.

There are so many ways for the color replacement tool to fail to produce the intended result, that we would need a full set of complete screenshots to narrow it down. Don't use it, work with masks instead.

Please share a screen capture of your workspace, especially the layers. Also, what color space are you working in?
