If I Install a pre release of PS, will it overwrite the working copy?

Pre releases are usually covered by secrecy agreements. Please don’t ask about them in the public forums. (You should in general keep a different test/play computer for your prerelease testing. What if you couldn’t boot because a prerelease went wrong? What if the prerelease corrupted your files?)
