Is iPad 2021 compatible with Photoshop && Lightroom CC?

I subscribe to the Photography Plan and am thinking of buying a new iPad 2021. Will this be compatible with Lightroom and Photoshop CC? If so, will I need the 256gb version? Thanks.

The iPad version is also Cloud-only. You'll want a desktop computer to back that stuff up.

As others have said, Photoshop on iPad is a stripped-down version that not only works differently than the Mac and Windows versions (optmized for touch and pen, no menu bar commands…), it is missing many of the features of the desktop version.

Regarding Lightroom, if you currently use Lightroom on Mac or Windows, the iPad version is essentially the same, also storing your originals on Creative Cloud servers, and that transition should be easy. However, if you currently use Lightroom Classic on Mac or Windows, that is very different than Lightroom (including the iPad version) and again, Lightroom is missing many features found in Lightroom Classic.

There are some excellent iPad photo and design apps, if Adobe's offerings don't do the job. Check out Affinity, Pixelmator Pro, RAW Power, and Procreate to get started.

Any of the current iPad models will run Photoshop and Lightroom from the iOS App Store. I have a third-generation Air and it works fine, supports the Apple Pencil, obviously more on-device storage is useful if you plan to do much work on the iPad.

Thanks for both replies, particularly Lumiographics for confirming that it should work fine. I've never used either program/app on anything other than a Windows PC yet.

Be advised that all Photoshop functions are not yet ported to the iPad, but it evolves regularly...

Hi, you would use dedicated tablet versions, not the "desktop" versions: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/ipad.html and Lightroom (not Lr Classic) for Mobile devices: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html Yes, we know it uses an M1 processor like the MacBooks, but it is a different Operating System.
