Is it possible to fake pen pressure with a mouse scroll wheel?

i know i can use pen tool to simulate pressure but its automated and i can't make it thin in specific places, can i use a mouse scroll wheel? or better yet is it possible to use "[ or ]" to change brush size while my mouse is on the canvas? photoshop doesn't change brush size when i have it held down.
