Is the one version of Photoshop CS compatible with both Mac and PC

I did a multi media diploma in 2000 and was taught on an early version of Photoshop. I am 70 odd now and only occasionally need a photo editing programme for private use, so a subscription isn’t warranted. I bought a copy of Elements but it’s not as functional and I guess I am too old to relearn a different programme. A local guy has an old copy of Photoshop CS for sale which he ran on a Mac. Would this run on my PC running Windows 10?

The mac versions of photoshop didn't have activation till cs2, so photoshop cs on the mac side doesn't need activation, though one stills needs a compatible os to run it on.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard is the oldest mac os that photoshop cs will run on without using a virtual machine.

Photoshop CS, CS2 and CS3 can no longer be activated, so these are useless.

It will not run without activation. CS cannot be activated. The Mac version will not run on Windows.

Hi Chuck,

The OP is asking if it will work on a WIN 10 machine, well the answer does not change however.

Which version of CS are you talking about? Even if we take the last versiion i.e. CS6, it is not compatible with WIN10 and lots of people have mentioned it to be not working, so not worth taking the risk. Also i am not sure how legal it is to sell the license from one person to another, if the seller has already added this license to his AdobeID, then you would be dependent on him the retrieve serial key etc. So its better to avoid, CS is an outdated version of software anyhow

Thanks, I assumed as much but the seller believed it would.
