Is there a Character limit for Text Boxes?

i am using Photoshop CS6 and have added a text box layer with the intention of creating micography. I am finding that in order to get the sufficient detail from the photo-mask i need to use a very small font size, 2 or 3. However using such a small font means that i need a massive amount of text. When adding text whenever i get to about 10,000 words the textbox either appears completely empty or the formatting fragments and only allows a handful of words per line.

My question is, am i running into this issue because is there a character limit to the Text Box in photoshop, or is it some other quirk?
