Is there any sort of update that would cause CS5 to uncheck the History Log option?

I work in a profession where metadata is important to retain (forensics) and I just discovered that my partner's CS5 was not capturing metadata / creating the edit log.

I know that at one point it was; we went to the .txt file where it was being captured and it stopped a couple of years ago.

Any idea why this would happen?  We haven't updated CS5 but it is a work computer that may have had Windows updates applied; would that cause it?

Just looking for a cause.  Thanks.
