Issues with Command J, and Copying & Pasting Selections using Lasso Tool

I am using photoshop to work on retouching. After I have performed an action such as frequency separation, I stamp out the layer using Command, Option, Shift, E. Then I use the lasso tool to make a selection of the stamped layer that I want to duplicate to a new layer. What is happening is after I duplicate my selection onto a new layer, the selection is placed sklightly askew from where it should be.

For example in the video below, I have made a selection of the lips of a model, when I Command J from a selection of stamped layer, the lip selection that's now on a new layer is slightly higher vertically than where it should be. It is not being copied in the exact same spot. On other occasions the lip is pasted askew horizontally.

I have uninstalled and re-installed photoshop, and also rolled back one version, both with the same issue.

Thanks for the mention!

Please record a longer, clearer video and share it with me, along with the System info, through a direct message from my profile.

Hi Sameer,

Thank you for your reply! I have done all the below but unfortunately I am still having the same issue. The issue can't be seen really when zoomed in, however when you zoom in at 34% magnification, the issue is very noticeable.

I have tried to upload another video to show you, but it won't let me upload.

Should I upload the system info into this public forum chat? Would you suggest I upload it as a jpg as it will not let me upload it as a pdf?

Thank you,

Jane

Attached is the system info file you requested.

Hey, @janeb11459484. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I've tried to recreate it and watch the video at 150% magnification, but I couldn't spot what you reported.

Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Try these steps:

Go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and rename it to back up. (https://adobe.ly/3u7u84j)
macOS: Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.

Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024.old)

This will give Photoshop a fresh start as a new installation. Let me know if it helps. Thanks!
