Issues with image size and quality on CC17

Hello,

I'm using 13" model MacBook Pro and I'm having some irritating issues with Photoshop CC 2017.

When I open the files in Photoshop, whether making new files or resizing, it shows the image at 100% but it looks much smaller than it should be. Let's say it's 1500*500, it looks like it's showing the photo at 50% and not the actual size. Also when saving photos, the photos become very pixelated like you had it zoomed in to 200% and the quality is very low. I used Photoshop CS6 before and it didn't have this problem.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I am not sure if it's the problem with my MacBook resolution or is it anything to do with Photoshop but I really want to know what's wrong with it.

If anybody knows how to fix the problem, please help me out!
Thank you in advance!

    You raised two issues:

    1. The size on screen :

It sounds like your using a high resolution screen and Photoshop is working correctly.

At 100% zoom , Photoshop uses 1 screen pixel for each image pixel. Therefore the higher the resolution of your screen (i.e. the more densely packed the screen pixels) the smaller the image will measure physically when shown on screen at 100%.

    2. Your saved photos are looking pixelated.

How are you saving them (i.e. size and file format) and what are you using to view them ?

    As Dave said.

Most (even perhaps all) native Mac OS apps scale photos up to 200% when they detect a retina display (so it will display at the same physical size people are used to). But they don't inform you about it, or give you an option, as Photoshop does. So it appears pixelated compared to vector screen elements, or Photoshop displaying at true 1:1.

In time, as high resolution screens become the standard and everyone has them, these workarounds will no longer be required. Then web designers will just design with more pixels, and these inconsistencies cease to exist.

Thank you for your reply, Dave.

My screen resolution is 2560 x 1600. I'm just curious because with photoshop cs6, it shows different size from what I'm seeing now.

I'm saving my photos as .png. I also forgot to mention that the size when I save the photos, it became double the size I actually wanted as well. I'm using Preview on my MacBook to view the pictures and I also preview it using browser before saving from photoshop. I have also view on internet browser as well and it doesn't look right.

Is there any way to adjust the size so I could get the actual size that I wanted?
