Issues with Layer Masks in Photoshop CC 2024

I’m encountering a problem with layer masks in Photoshop CC 2024. When I try to apply a mask, the edges appear jagged and not smooth as expected. I’ve tried adjusting the feather and opacity settings, but the issue persists.

Has anyone else faced this problem or found a solution? Any tips on how to achieve smoother transitions on layer masks would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Properties, Options Bar, …) visible?

Are you definitely zoomed at 100%?  (Cmd Opt 0)  that's a zero and not the letter O.

Have you resized the mask?  If yes, check that the interpolation settings for Free Transform is set to anything other than 'nearest neighbour'

If none that helps, a screen shot of your entire workspace showing the image and layers panel might help us see what is going on.
