Jagged/Pixilated Text in Photoshop

Note: This is NOT an AA issue. None of the settings in my program have changed since the issue began. Please do not recommend changing AA.

When viewing text at 100%, it looks fine. However when you zoom out, the text immediately becomes jagged; even at 90-95%. This has happened to me once before, and after hours of Googling, I was able to resolve it by clearing the Font Cache in Photoshop. However this time, it's not solving the problem. The text has always been smooth when zooming out up to a point. I can't view all of my PS files in 100% if I'm working on a 2500x3600 space. That's not practical. But it is incredibly irritating to zoom out and see nothing but a mess of jagged text when it was smooth before!

Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve? Again, NONE of the settings in Photoshop have altered since the last time it worked. Short of a re-install, I don't know what to do, but would rather leave that as a last resort.

Correct answer Trevor.Dennis

So it is a display problem rather than an image problem?  The final printed or exported type is OK?

It sounds like you have not changed anything in Photoshop, so it is probably not to do with display settings, but you should still investigate in case an automatic driver update has cased problems.  Check cache levels in Preferences > Performance (it needs to be more than one).  Try the three different presets, and also open Advanced mode and try different Drawing Mode settings.  My gut is that this won't fix it.

CS6, so no TypeKit.  How about other plugins, font managers?  Try starting Photoshop with the Shift key held down.

There is a font problems FAQ.  Have you looked at that?  #12 in this link

What stands a better chance is to reset the type tool, and if that doesn't help, reset Preferences.  I am always loath to suggest the latter because it is such a pain getting everything back to how you like it, but this is a case where it stands a good chance of working if you have tried other things without success.

Most likely a display problem - the final exported file looks fine.

Checked Cache levels - you are correct. This didn't fix it.

No plugins installed.

Already checked the font troubleshooting: Troubleshoot fonts issues in Adobe Photoshop CC, 2015, 2014, CS6, CS5   Unfortunately the steps didn't work.

Sadly, I had to take the step to reset Preferences......but it worked. As much of a pain as it'll be to get my settings in order, at least the font doesn't look like it's been living in an Atari.

Appreciate your assistance! Saving this thread in case it happens once again.
