Question

Keyboard shortcut for action doesn't run action

I've created an action which runs a script. When I 'play' it it works fine. I want to assign a keyboard shortcut for it so I went to action options and set it to command-shift-f1. When I hit command-shift-f1 nothing happens. When I select the script and 'play' it it works fine.

Is there something about assigning keyboard shortcuts to actions that I am missing?

The action you have highlighted is Cmd+Shift+F2 instead of F1. Does that work?

Hi there, thanks for the response. Sorry, I should have put f2 in my post. No combination of keyboard shortcuts work. I changed it to cmd+shift+f2 to see if f1 was broken.

Hi Lawrence,

Go to Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard. Put a check by "Use F1, F2, etc., keys as standard function keys".

Your other option is to include the Fn key when running your Action. The function keys are assigned to brightness, sound, etc., by default and the fn key toggles to the other.
