I am looking for a new laptop. My current choice is the Dell Alienware M15 with:

Win 10 Pro

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6

15.6" UHD (3840 x 2160) 60Hz Anti-Glare IPS, 500-nits, 100% Adobe color gamut display

16GB, 2x8GB, DDR4, 2666MHz RAM

1TB PCIe M.2 SSD

Can anyone suggest a better alternative? Thanks.

Which CPU option would you go with?  Other than that, gaming laptops tend to make excellent choices for Photoshop, because they share hardware demands.

My one concern is that 15" 4K screen.  I don't know how old you are, but even if you are still going to school, I doubt you'd be able to use the Photoshop UI at 4K.  You have the option of switching the UI to 200%, and if UI Scaling is set to Auto (Which is what I think the default) I feel sure it will automatically use the 200% option.  If you are young then that will be no problem.  If your eyes are not what they used to be, then it will likely be hard work.

You can always use a second screen and extend the UI to it when using the laptop at home.  With what this laptop would cost, a 24" or similar monitor would be cheap as chips by comparison.  I think most of the regular posters to this forum use multiple screens BTW.

    The processor is

    8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8750H (6-Core, 9MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

Thanks for your comments on display resolution. I thought PS and LR are fully compatible with high res monitors. Unfortunately I cannot find a laptop with a low res HD monitor that covers all or most of the Adobe RGB gamut. I do use a 27" 2560 x 1440 monitor with my current laptop and I don't plan to replace it.
