Large Adobe files creating slowdown and lag

For InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, working with large files causes the software to slow down and lag from input. The three softwares are not being used at the same time; these are separate instances of the same problem across multiple Adobe applications. Occaisionally there is so much slowdown that it causes the file to crash entirely. While the issue occurs within all three applications, the main occurance is with InDesign. The files and software are all on an SSD, and the rest of my computer specs are above the Adobe recommendations for the software, so I am not sure where the source of these problems are. Smaller file sizes work fine, the problem is only with larger files. For an example of the problem happening with Photoshop, I have included a video below of the artboard freezing while the rest of the application works around it. I have looked at other threads that have some workarounds for each individual software, but I haven't found anything that explains why all three would have the same exact problem. I was hoping that I could get some help with figuring this out, thanks.

What size do you class as a "large" file  (size in pixels and number of layers please).
