Layer Effects taking forever to load...

I am using the most up-to-date version of Photoshop CC.

When I try and add a Layer Effect to one of my Layers, it takes an extremely long time to load. I've never had this issue before. It can't be my computer because it is brand new, and I have 16GB of RAM.

The file isn't big either. It's a standard 11x17 size with a resolution of 300 ppi.

Does anyone know what might be causing the slowdown?

Is you problem with a particular layer and effect or any layer ans any effect?

Never mind... Looks like it does have something to do with which file I'm working on. I just tested it out on a blank canvas, and it's running normally. The current design I'm working on must be too large.
