Layer Mask in Photoshop 21.1

Question

When I add a layer mask by clicking the layer mask icon in the layers pallet, the mask isn't visible. I have to click in the top menu under Layer>layer mask>reveal all in order for it to show in the layers pallet. Normally (before the update to 21.2) when I clicked on the layer mask icon in the layers pallet, the mask was viewable on that layer.
I looked in preferences and couldn't find anything to set it to always reveal.

help please!

I do no see that on Windows 10 with Photoshop 21.2. What is visible depends on conditions and how you click on the add layer mask icon in the layer palette. Are you having other Problem with your GPU. Do doe have Legacy composition checked there a bug in 21,2 with that. Your not the only one having problems with 21.2. I assumed you meant to type 21.2 not 21,1 which is old
