Layer mask problems

Version: 23.3.2

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

 

Basic Steps to reproduce the problem:

1- open photoshop

2- try to make a simple dodge and burn with curves and layer mask

3- put it in a file

4- keep working doing other things in my image

5- try to fix something in the D&B file going back to that file

6- press B as a brush to work on it and doesnt allow me 

7- it says the channel is hidden

8- I only can fix that by reset the app

 

this is super valuable to me cuz is necessary for my regular job use those tools in my app

Hit the Q key to take Photoshop out of quickmask mode.

thank you!! it worked, it is crazy cuz i wasnt working before with quickmask. now idk if the Q of my keyborard is bugged or something cuz, it happend many times today. but thanks your answer was really helpful of you.

plus I just realize that is happening multiple problems with my layer mask in general, if i created a layer mask and invert it right away, will work fine but, if i click on other things and then i want to invert it, it doesnt work, i need a reply from you really fast please, in the added pic it shows me trying to invert layer but is like the letter I wont work.
