Question

Layer masks ignored when flattening an image

OS Version: Monterey 12.6

PS Version: 23.5.1

My PS has just started to ignore layer masks when flattening an image.

When I have finished adjusting an image via layermasks I usually flatten the layers and save the result as a tif. However, since this morning, when I flatten an image with layermasks the layermasks are ignored and the image reverts to the original background layer.

Any ideas?
Thanks

The behaviour has stopped now, very strange!

This behaviour started happeneing after a device restart. I restarted PS but still no change. I found that 'merge layers' worked as expected, so I continued to work with merging rather than flattening.

I saw your reply and went to make screenshots but cannot replicate what was happening earlier as it seems to have fixed itself as I made no changes to fix the issue myself. So, I guess its all fine now!?

A sample file, or at least before and after screenshots would help.

And I also have to ask the obligatory, are you viewing at 100% (1:1) view?
