Continue exploring PS shortcuts. 🙂

If a Brush (or a Stamp tool) is active, we can't change the Opacity of the layer from the keyboard, can we? It only affects the tool settings.

lots of Photoshop's shortcuts are context sensitive in order to give us a greater range of availability.  If you want to change layer opacity while using the Brush tool, you could hit 'V' to select the Move tool, change the opacity, and hit 'B' to go back to the Brush.

Good tip, though I'd prefer to change the Opacity without switching the tools, by holding a hotkey (for instance, Shift).

Hey, guess what Ivan... It is possible to do so via an action F-key or via script with a keyboard shortcut assigned to the script! But you probably guessed that I would say that :]
