layer that auto adjusts to main layer

Question

hello, not really sure what the process is called, but there is a way of creating a layer on photoshop or illustrator that is sort of like a mask on another layer, I have seen these used on product mockups when the product is one layer but it is setup so that the person editing the logo layer can paste in a 2d layer, and that somehow adjusts automatically to the  the layer where the text and logo is a normal layer but it adjusts to an pre determined perspective etc - what is this process called (so that i can look for a tutorial on youtube)? thanks

I believe you are looking for Smart Object layer and duplicated or cloned Smart Object layer - if I can understand your request properly.

There isn't some special terminology there, just look for mockup using smart object layers or similar tutorial. Is this tutorial similar to what you want to achieve https://youtu.be/QKBNMTHVkcY
