Layers disappear

I recently opened a file and noticed that all the layers are gone, leaving only the image as a background (as if it were a .jpg). I thought I made a mistake of merging the layers.
But today I opened other .psd files that had several layers and disappeared again.
A serious mistake that made me lose hours of work.
I'm using the Photoshop 2020 version. Can someone help me?
