Question

Layers to files option is not reducing the size in photoshop

So, I need to edit the images and export them in JPG or JPEG. Usually I export all my layers to JPEG, by using "Layers to files" option and I always set my quality to 7 and my image size never exceeded than 30KB. My canvas size is 480px / 320px ONLY (Resolution is 72).
I want to use option "Layers to files", because I have 100s of layers, so this option export my files in seconds.

My Photoshop version is 24.5.
I have checked on both Windows  and MAC. Both have same problem.
Previous version was working perfectly fine. Not sure about version but it was before Feb-2023.

I have told customer care person as well. I am hoping they will resolve this asap and will send the new update soon.

Select all layers in the file using the menu command. Right-click in the layers panel and select Export As. This option strips metadata.

If you wish to continue using the layers to files script, remove the photoshop:DocumentAncestors metadata from the layered file so that it isn't included in the exported files, or modify the script to remove the metadata.

I just checked your JPEG and it does have excessive photoshop:DocumentAncestors metadata.

The downloaded file is:

226 kb.

After removing the photoshop:DocumentAncestors metadata:

29 kb.

Check the layered file and the saved files for excessive photoshop:DocumentAncestors metadata -
