I am trying to use material panel to make  on the fly   "normal map form height map"   filter  in Photoshop.      But the panel  is totally , absolutly useless .   Please Adobe  let us create our own filters for Photoshop  , without weird  re-scaling and transforms  , without unnesessary extra "lighting" .   Normal map colors I get  from my sbsar  are not even right.      Why I can perfectly do such a filter in Afinity photo  and can't in Photoshop.

Default Photoshop filters are outdated like dinosaurs.   Why not just let us do our own with such a great tool as Designer.

Please pause for a bit with  all that AI stuff  I never  needed  and make a few actual useful improvements.

Take a look at parametric filters in the Beta version of Photoshop. You can make your own in Substance Designer.

I could not replicate your issue with the white background on the heightmap here. (I tried in both 16bit and 32 bit)

As far as I can tell, the content of the parametric filter SO can't be 'tweaked', although the filter of course can. So far, I've just tweaked the image and run the filter from scratch again. The best place to raise feedback is in the dedicated Photoshop Beta forum.

Thanks Dave for letting me now about this.   It does show a certain  promise indeed.

Although still prety useless. I need  something  to tweak height image with layers and see  some feadback like normal map as a live filter on the top.  Like I can do in Affinity Photo .  But being restricted  to smart objects only it's pretty useless unfortunatly . Besides it's a simple heigh to normal sbsar  and I see that weird  white background.

ps. Tried my favorite  content aware move tool on the height  image inside smart object , saved  it and  the filter  just crashed . Does  it every time I try.

ps. Tried to make "slope blur" filter . The one most used thing in Substance Designer   that  I would definitely  love  to have directly in Photoshop . Nope. Not working at all.
