Letter keys don't switch between brushes without using shift.

I can't switch between brushes unless I use the shift key. This just started yesterday after years of using J for the spot healing brush and H for the hand (and other key/brush combos). Now I have to us shift J and shift H. This has slowed my editing work considerably. I'm thinking I have probably executed some key combination to cause this but I can't find anything in the Adobe documentation about it.

Correct answer D Fosse

There's a checkbox in Preferences to "use shift key for tool switch".

That's wierd, I just looked in my preferences and the box is not checked and the behaviour is the shift key is needed for swithcing tools. I checked the box and now the behaviour is the shift key is not required. This seems backwards. Whatever, if it works, I'm happpy. Thanks for the pointer.

Well, it happens that preferences get corrupted. That can happen because they are rewritten on every application exit, as opposed to read-only program files. If you get more problems, try to reset.
