line not displaying on canvas

hey, I was trying to outline things on my canvas using the line tool yet after creating them they wont display unless i click on them. So it acts as though it is below the other things in layers yet it is the top layer. any ideas?

Perhaps you are using Path drawing mode? Can you please post screenshot with Line tool active, layers panel and Options bar visible?
