Question

Lines showing around edges on a pattern when repeated.

I have some simple patterns I am making fill layers for to make different colorways. When I make the layers, I see a small line around the edge that doesn't quite fill and of course wreaks havoc when repeated.

The original pattern is a tiff and I am using CS5. I  mainly use the magic wand tool using various tolerances. And sometimes anti-alias in checked or not checked. Not really seeing different results either way. Hoping I can solve this since it happens often enough that it is annoying and I have over 800 patterns to make colorways for.

Could you describe the method you are using to make the patterns? Particularly about using the Magic Wand.

Basically, I just use the wand to select an area I want to make a fill layer for, so I can change the colors of the pattern. I adjust the tolerance depending on the design. They are saved as .tiff and .jpg.  The wand is easier to use than the quick selection tool because of the nature of the patterns I have.

I use the different patterns as tiff files to upload to our print database.

Thanks.
