Question

Long journey to get Cintiq 21UX running smoothly with Photoshop CS6 on Windows 10. A few current issues.

Hello all. I've had a Cintiq 21UX for a while now and I've never stopped fighting it. I'm trying to solve several issues that arise when using CS6.

I am using a Wacom Cintiq 21ux on a Lenovo Ideapad U530 Touch on Windows 10.

Here are my main concerns-

1. Pen keeps spewing out blotched lines without pen pressure, as though pen pressure has been disabled for a split second.

2. After a brief session, pen pressure will disable itself, and the cursor will additionally start to become jittery, requiring me to close down Photoshop, go to Windows' "Services" option to right-click and restart "Windows Professional Service" before opening Photoshop again.

3. There is a shortcut in Photoshop "Control + Alt-drag" which creates a duplicate of the selection as a floating layer. This frequently gets in the way of a "Control + Alt + Z then draw again" because I may make a mistake and use the pen before clicking the Z, which requires me to then go and delete the new copy layer that I accidentally made. I do not need this shortcut, but after looking through all of "Keyboard Shortcuts..." in Photoshop, I can't find it so that I can turn it off. The reason I know about it is because it is listed here (under "Use Vanishing Point")- Default keyboard shortcuts in Adobe Photoshop

Regarding 1. and 2., I've done various things related to disabling "flicks" and "Windows Ink", but I haven't been successful. Drivers are up to date. I think 1. and 2. may have to do with conflicts with the native Windows tablet system (along with perhaps the Lenovo's touch system) and the desired Wacom tablet system, but I think 3. has to do with Photoshop, so if anyone could help me with any of these, it would be great!!

Your using Photoshop CS6 means I have to guess, so this might be way off...

When you disabled Windows Ink, did you lose pen pressure?  I think the API is Windows version dependent, and not Photoshop version, and general rule of thumb is that tablets work better with WinTab with Windows 8.1 and 10, so if you have not set up the WinTab text file, try that first.

This link is from the Overview page for this forum

Tablet support for Photoshop on Windows 8

You need to follow the UseSystemStylus 0, with PSUserConfig.txt file, and place it as per the instructions.

Note: what that page does not tell you is that you need to make Hidden Files viewable to access the App Data folder hierarchy from the File Explorer View tab.

Try that and come back if it does not help

Good luck.
