Question

Looking to make Mockup where I only have to edit one smart object, and it changes multiple mockups

Trying to make a Mockup template. I'd like there to be t shirts, hats, mugs, etc, and have to edit only one smart object, and that smart object changes all items I previously listed.

An added bonus would be having it to where I can export all of these items individually, as PNGs.

I've been trying to do this for the past few hours with no progress, so any help is much appreciated. I tried putting two mockups in one PSD file and duplicating the smart object, but that doesn't help me, as I still need to edit each of these individually. I also tried copying and pasting, but that had the same effect.

Can anyone provide me a step-by-step process to do this? Is it even possible?

If you duplicate a smart object (Ctrl+J) then updating the content of any of the copies will update the same in all copies of the smart object.  You can transform, warp, filter each smart object copy differently, it is only the content that remains linked.

Thanks, but for some reason, this isn't the case for me.

I've attached photos for reference.

You can see in the first image, the original mock up

In the second Image, I've duplicated the product image (Comes out with super dark shadows which is another issue)

In the third image, I've duplicated the smart object and dragged it over (Again, the shadows), and edited the smart object. You can see that it's not changing all of the smart objects, but just the original.

And the fourth image is my layers panel, for reference.

Side note: I've tried this on a few different mock ups. Whenever I duplicate only the smart object, usually, only the shadows are duplicated, without the actual object showing. Why is that?
