LR doesn't recognize any of my catalogues

LR Classic version 12.5 Mac OS Ventura 13.5

I wanted to quit LR and as I usually do, I asked it to backup the catalog. I received an error message so I clicked cancel thinking I would just use the latest catalog when I relaunched.

LR Classic now does not recognize any catalog, i.e. it won't open any of my catalogues from within the application.

I am stuck regarding how to proceed.

Please advise

Correct answer D Fosse

Does it make a difference which file I click on, i.e. .lrcat or .lrcat-data?

Yes! lrcat is the catalog, that's the one you want. The other is the previews cache.

One other thing regarding the above. When LR asked to create a default catalogue, I clicked OK thinking it would then use the latest data it had, but that did not work.

Don't open from within Lightroom, it will be stuck at whatever catalog is set up as default in Preferences. Find a good catalog and open it directly by double-clicking it. Then when Lightroom has opened with the good catalog, you can go into preferences and set it as new default catalog.
