M1 Macbook Beta: Output to Layer Mask not working

Hi, I am an absolute beginner, so tbh I can't even tell if it is a bug or my incompetence. I'm using the most up-to-date version of the Beta on a M1 Macbook Air.

The online course I am following to guides me along these steps:

I have an image of a backpack and need to use magic wand tool to select the white space around the backpack, than I click inverse to select the backpack instead of the white background.

The next step is to click Select and Mask... do some adjustments and finally select Output to... Layer Mask...and hit OK.

In the instruction video the adjustments stay applied and the layer is added.

But for me hitting OK reverts everything I have done back to the original image with white background and no layer is added in the Layers-overview.

So, as I said, I can´t figure out what I`m doing wrong or if it is a bug in the Beta. Help would be very appreciated. Thanks 🙂

I am testing on Win machine and everything works as expected. What you mean by:

"most up-to-date version of the Beta on a M1 Macbook Air. " Are you talking about Beta software, some beta version of Photoshop or soem Mac product?

I found this online https://www.diyphotography.net/adobe-photoshop-beta-for-apples-m1-is-now-available/

Here is statement about features:

"Well, they actually say that “many features” are not yet available and some may experience slow performance."

Hi, yes, I was instructed to not install the "regular" Photoshop app, but go to Beta apps and install the Beta if I intend to use Photoshop on a machine with the M1 Apple chip. Maybe this is one of the features not working, I install the "official" release, try again and report back.

Photoshop 22.1.1 is in release, if you are using a beta version then how did you get that?
