I despaired, I have lost cash from manufacturers not catering for upgrades. fed up with it.

I don't have Lightroom, but my workaround is to create and edit in CS5, which I think is a great programme and more than enough for me, then to print from the edited or created file in Finder - a great, simple relief.  It works fine with my Stylus Pro 3880.

Any solutions on this from Adobe?? I'm in the middle of a huge project and I can't print anything from Photoshop on my new MacBook.

Seems like a "progressive" software like Adobe/ Photoshop would want to to stay up to date when companies like Apple create updates for their products. Sort of frustrating to shell out a ton of cash for software that can't/ won't keep up.

I am running CS5  12.0.4 on a Mac using OS 10.12.1 Sierra.  When I attempt to print The print screen disappears  and I must re-start Photoshop.  I have discovered that if I go to Image, then Canvas Size and change the dimensions of height and width by adding 1" to both dimensions, then Save As, some new file name, then print I get the message something like "Print is too large, some cropping will happen".  I ignore the warning and push Proceed.  The printer prints, cropping off the 1" that I added.

The 1" could probably be almost anything, but it is easier to remember 1" in case I want to undo the Canvas Size later.  Also, if I go through the Canvas Size a second time and reduce the image back to the original size, it still prints OK.

I haven't tried sending the Photoshop file to someone else to see if they have any problem with my increased file size.

Simply deinstalling and then reinstalling my printers seems to have fixed my PS printing problem. I have CS5.5 and Sierra 10.12.1.

I didn't rename the printers as this link suggested and it still worked ... Known issues - Running Photoshop CC on macOS 10.12 Sierra

Hi Soul Witness and Hello to the others having this same crashing issue with PS 5 and PS6 with the new Mac Sierra OS.

We tried a few different work-arounds to no avail. If you buy the  $10 a month bullshit Adobe CC.. it only works when you are connected to the internet.. so that does not work for a lot of creatives.

What we have done is to save our files to dropbox and then print from another NON upgraded MAC.

I would suggest that ADOBE fixes this ASAP.. as we are looking at buying Affinity for all of our designers. Here's the link to see if this is an option for you or your school: Affinity Photo - Professional image editing software for Mac

    ADOBE!!! PLEASE GET THIS FIXED!!!!

Myth #2 ” I don’t want to have to be connected to the internet just to use Photoshop.”

Once we get past the fact that you download the Apps and install them on your hard drive, people still sometimes think that they need to be connected to the internet to actually run the Apps because they are Creative Cloud Apps. Again, this is not true. Your Apps not only install on your hard drive, but they also can very much run offline. You computer does have to connect to the internet once a month to verify that your membership is still current, but that’s it. Once that check has happened you can disconnect and run all of your Creative Cloud apps OFF-line.

Update as of 5/6/2013: You will need to be online when you install and license your software. If you have an annual membership, you’ll be asked to connect to the web to validate your software licenses every 30 days. However, you’ll be able to use products for 99 days even if you’re offline.

I have the same problem. I cannot believe that this problem has been known for a month and hasn't yet been solved. Can an Adobe staff member please give us a detailed description of the issue, and an estimated resolution date. This cannot be rocket science. Thanks.

Frankly the answer is to dump Photoshop and move to Affinity Photo, it seems to do most things that Photoshop does at a fraction of the price and I can once again PRINT

Hi Hozz, per your suggestion I downloaded and checked out Affinity Photo. So far I'm highly impressed and am close to making the switch.

    Hi Soul Witness,

Sorry for the crashes while printing from Photoshop CS5 in Sierra. In addition to what gener7 and Barb have both correctly mentioned. We do have this article of the known issues we're seeing with macOS Sierra: Known issues - Running Photoshop CC on macOS 10.12 Sierra

See if some of the print suggestions there help out and let us know if you get it working.

    Regards,

I also had exactly the same problem on CS6 so installed Photoshop CC version 2015.5.1 which I believe is the latest version and still Photoshop crashes when I try to print. I can print from Lightroom but this is not the point. Surely you can design a program that is compatible with Mac OS Sierra.

I'll just point out that CS5 was released in 2010, Sierra was released just last month. While you might get CS5 working on Sierra, it's not supported and will not be upgraded. If you can't get PS to print without crashing, it may be time to consider upgrading to CC 2015. If all you use are Photoshop and Lightroom, you can get an annual plan for $10/ month.

    Hi BarbBinder,

I work in a non fee paying school in Dublin, Ireland, and we can't afford your monthly fee suggestion to upgrade to your overpriced latest version of Photoshop. I don't know if you work for Adobe, or you are a shareholder or have some vested interest, either way Adobe needs to get this fixed, pronto, and stop trying to squeeze more cash out of non commercial entities like schools. I hope you understand our circumstances, and appreciate our frustration.

Soul Witness, don't worry I tried a copy of the latest version, printing doesn't even work in that version!

First off, when you go to Help > System Info, what version of CS5 do you have? 12.0 or 12.0.4? The latter fixed print bugs.
