(Mac) photoshop lags past certain zoom level

I have an issue where photoshop starts lagging once my zoom level is higher than 63.7%. (no lag <= 63.7% < lag). Has anyone else had an issue like this before ?

 

I have tried setting smoothing to 0%. The issue started all of a sudden and its both PS cc 2019 and 2020. Ive tried all 3 graphics settings. Ive tried turning off Scrubby zoom/Animated zoom. Ive also tried to reset preferences. 

 

Edit: the problem seems to have resolved itself now, not sure how or why. But thanks your time.

We are having the same issue. We actually have a lot of issues with the latest iMacs and Photoshop. I have recently switched form an iMac 2018 with the 580x to an iMac 2019 with Vega 48 8gb. The problems are still there. We are currently running Catalina with the latest Photoshop version.

From 63,7% and below there is no lag in for example zooming or transforming an image. When it hits 63,8% or the default 66,67% that Photoshop snaps to when zooming from 50% it lags. Definitely not the only issue but a very repeatable and annoying issue.

Tried 6 different Photoshop version. Possibly all the setting combinations possible. No luck.

We are sorry about the experience with Photoshop.

 

Would you mind letting us know the macOS version you are using? Have you tried disabling the Graphics processor completely in Photoshop to chechek if that helps?

 

You can uncheck the option to Use Graphics Processor from the Preferences of Photoshop > Performance and increase the Memory usage to 75%. Also, check the option for Legacy Compositing, then quit and relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.
