MacOS Cover Flow Not Working for Photoshop jpegs saved on SMB Volume

I have noticed an issue with Photoshop CS6 that does not exist on Photoshop CC. After I got our communications to get updated to MacOS Sierra they noticed that jpeg files they saved using Photoshop CS6 were getting the generic jpeg image rather than the actual image while in cover flow view of Finder. I then grabbed a spare macbook and noticed that when I take one of their files from our file server and place it on the desktop the file works in cover flow. I tested the same thing on my MacOS High Sierra MacBook and it has the same exact result. When I downloaded a trial of Photoshop CC cover flow worked fine from the file server. We connect to the file server via SMB. Anyone know what the root cause of that issue is? Is this a bug that will be fixed within CS6?

I’m just taking a guess here. The older Photoshop CS6 is probably saving a preview file in an older format is not recognized by Sierra. It makes sense that Photoshop CC saves the file with a more up to date preview that Sierra can see, because both Photoshop CC, and Sierra are current technology. CS6 is already old news. Don’t expect Adobe to create an update to fix the issue.
