"Magic Wand" Tool in PS Elements vs. PS 2019?

I just upgraded from Elements 6 to PS 2019 today and I've located all my familiar tools and functions in the new version, with one exception.  Does 2019 have a "magic wand tool" as Elements and older full versions of Photoshop did, or a tool that performs the same function, only under a different name?

I found the answer on my own: "Magic Eraser" tool.  I love that it's 1 click and done!

Which one, the Wand or the Eraser? I like what the Eraser does, taking out the solid background to isolate the rest of the photo as a layer.  In Elements 6 I was limited to the Wand tool for this and it was a constant juggling act playing with the tolerance, but sometimes I could never set the tolerance to the dead center perfect value and it would take out too many pixels or too few.  When that happened I gave up and switched to the Polygonal Lasso or the Magnetic Lasso, a more time consuming process but at least I was fully in control of my pixel selection.  Now the Eraser performs the same function with one click and it's done! and I can go on with my life!   Overall I'm liking all of the updates in PS 2019.

Hi

Yes, Photoshop has a Magic Wand tool. It shares space with the Quick Selection tool and the keyboard shortcut is "W". It is not the same as the Magic Eraser.

Thanks for the info! I found the Magic Wand now and can use it as I previously would have. I also achieved a needed effect with the Eraser, so I'll need to play with both tools more to get used to the updates.  I used Elements 6 for many years so 2019 feels weird and different, like getting behind the wheel of a brand new car for the first time.

You're welcome. One thing that will help you a lot as you transition from Elements to Photoshop is to click the Search button, then click Photoshop, then start to type the tool name that you are looking for. Note that several tools come up when I start to type "magic". The keyboard shortcut is to the right, or just click the name to go directly to the tool.
