Question

Make a stone frame on half of the page and surround it with a pattern

I want to grab a stone texture from an image on the internet and fill it into that frame and be able to apply fx effects on the frame. Then grab a pattern on the internet and apply that pattern around that frame's borders. Both the frame and the borders need fx capabilities.

Can someone post some instructions please?

Here is basic instruction:

  • Download texture and open it in Photoshop.
  • Convert Background layer to Normal to be able to apply layer effects.
  • You can scale/transform layer if you want to.
  • Apply effect using Layer > Layer Effects.
  • Draw shape above layer with texture. Shape must have hole inside. You can use pre-made custom shape for this task.
  • Download second texture.
  • Place second texture using File > Place command. Ensure that placed texture is above shape layer.
  • With second texture layer selected press Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Opt + G to clip texture to shape layer.
  • Select shape layer and apply layer effect using Layer > Layer Style dialogue.
