Question

Managing assets in the Photoshop (22.5.1) library panel

What happened to library panel? Specially for moving assets. And can it be restored

Library panel in PS has never been super useable, but for moving and copying assets between CC libraries it was the easiest option amongst all the options. It WAS possible to select multiple assets (for example Adobe tock photos) and organize them in to different libraries and groups with a single click. The hierarchial menu showing ALL the destination locations (libraries and groups) was not as intuitive as possible but it was FAST and it WORKED.

In the latest update (22.5.1) the "hierarchial menu" has been replaced with a non-scalable-too-small-miniature-million-clicks-pop-up. This is really a terrible "improvement".

Is there an option to get the old menu option restored?

I am able to navigate and move assets. See attached video. Is this not what you're seeing?

Yep. That's exactly what I'm seeing. And that is the problem.

It used to be possible to organize them in to different libraries and groups with a single right-click > browsing through the menu. You could move / copy assets to existing groups or libraries and create new ones if needed. With a single click and all libraries and groups visible in the same view.

Now, I have to click, and click and scroll and click in a small pop-up window showing only five destination items at a time.

I think the change from the menu option to this miniature click and choose window is a bad move concerning useability. There for I'm asking if there may be an option/setting to go back with the previous model. Without downgrading of course.

Thanks again!

I can see how that would be a pain... bummer!

On my Mac with Photoshop 22.5.1, I see that I can Command + click to select multiple items in a Library and right click (Option + click) to get the contextual menu to Move selected items to > (or with one item selected, Move to >) a different Library.

I also see that Filter options, Group by options, and View options are all available.

It sounds like you may not have Group by set to Custom Group.

If that's not the case, would you be able to post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks for your answer but the problem remains.

If I select a few items and then right-click to move them I get the too-small pop-up window to operate the assets.

See the attachments for more information.

Thanks!
