Master text file

I want to type text in a master file, so that I get the same text 20 times in the another file. Instead of creating a text layer and duplicating it; I want to type the word once in the master, then arrange copies in the destination file. I'd set up the destination copies once, then I can update them by typing in the master file.  Basically, an editable pattern.  How do I do this?

Master file must be Photoshop file or any file like text file, for example. Using Data Sets you can assign the same variable to multiple Type layers. Using Data Sets you can type only once text which will be used to replace all Type layers with the same variable assigned. Its not even necessary to have separate Data Sets file, text can be typed inside Variables dialogue.

If you need more help do not hesitate to ask again.

Update: just to add some info. You can not control text size and appearance using data sets. That can be done only using Options bar, Character, Paragraph styles or Layer Styles inside document. Variable can not be assigned to Smart Object layer.

    You can use smart objects. I'd you want a master file, you can used linked smart objects, otherwise just an embedded smart object would work. However, the appearance of smart objects are pixel based in the file rather than vector. So you might see some quality difference.
