Question

Move tool not available (without extra effort)

I'm having an issue with the move tool in Photoshop on my Mac.

I'm on version 25.1.0 but I see it on 24.7.2

So if I'm editing a document and simply want to use the move tool, I try to click on it.  It does nothing, if I click a different tool and then go back still nothing.  I've gone through a lot of the other postings on the forums but nothing seems to work (or I don't have the item discussed selected).

I'm getting around it after I discovered this workaround, If I go to the help menu and type "move" it gives me the help panel with results for "Move", under that is "tools and features" the first listed item is "Move Tool".  If I click that the move tool is now properly selected.  The help window tells me it is selected.  The boxes on the selected item appear and everything works as expected until I use another tool.

I apologize if I haven't noticed a posting that discusses this, but If anyone has discovered an answer please point me to it.  Thanks.

Steve

Hi @smorris99 I'm assuming you are on Mac OS Sonoma? If so upgrade to version 14.1.1 to resolve.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
