My cursor colour preview has disappeared

The cursor colour has disappeared with the brush and other tools as well as the crosshairs. I use the keyboard shortut Cntrl + Option left click and drag. Up and down shows the hardness of the brush and left and right increases and decreases the size of the brush. I am using a 2019 Macbook Pro 16", 6 core i7 and a Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB Graphics card.
