My layers disapered!

Okey so i saved my work as a PSD file! I was working on it on and off for a week and everything was going fine! I had couple of layers and groups (nothing major). Creative cloud made some updates (i am not sure if this has something to do with this situation) i had not opend the file in around a day and when i opend it...it was just one layer there? Everything merged into one layer and i am devestaed! I did NOT touch the file and unless my cat logged in or demons...it has to be something with the program. Does anyone know how i can recover (if possible) the merged layers?

I know how this happend now...the psd file was on my deskstop and i right clicked on it and choose the option open with>preview now this wont give you any problems! What will give you problems is when you choose to flip it! I tested it with one of the files and when i flipped it then flipped it back it merged into one layer! Just a caution...
