Good Evening,

I recently upgraded to Photoshop CC 2017. There is a new feature for the text tool that is driving crazy, and I was hoping to learn more about it or disable it. When I try to edit text a sub menu with letters pop-up and it is hard to get rid of it or ignore it. I do not know what this new feature is called. Therefore I am unable to find out how to control it. It is driving me crazy Does anyone know what this new feature is?

You're probably seeing the alternate glyphs. This is an advanced typography feature. If it pops up and you don't want it, press the Esc key.

If you want to turn it off permanently, there's a preference for it that's documented in this Adobe help page, where you can also learn about what the feature is for:

(scroll down to where it says On-Canvas Glyph Alternatives)

    Hi

PS Preferences > Type > [  ] Enable Type layer glyph alternates (disable this option)

Btw, it's not new to CC 2017
