Not able to edit layers

Question

Hi everyone! I am still fairly new to photoshop. I have an image that I was doing a retouch on and I duplicated the original layer. I saved the project, exited out of it then went back into it only to find that I was not able to edit any of my layers. Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Which version of the application have you installed? Are the layers locked? Please share a screenshot of the layers panel and screen.
