Not updating on hide/view layer

Whenever I update a layer's visibility status (Hide/view) this does not take any effect.

I have to click the canvas for changes to appear.

This is a bug that has been present in older versions of photoshop also.

It was gone in the 2018 release but reappeared in these versions:

19.1.3

I'm on Mac OS high Sierra.

Just bought a subscription but the application is rendered useless by this bug!

EDIT:

It seems like completely removing the Photoshop folder in the applications folder and then reinstalling to the latest version fixed my problem.

Did not work after all..

The problem reappears after closing photoshop and opening it again...
