Question

Object selection very very slow since photoshop 2022 update

Using the object selection tool (the square) is now very slow. Before the 2022 update eveything was working fine.

Tried deleting existing preferences and uncheck GPU but still very very slow.

 

note that the new select subject option seems to work ok !

    The problem is now solved for me 3.5K$ later with: Core i9, 8Cores 16Threads 5.2GHz max, MegaCooler, Z590, RAM 32GB, SSD 1000GB, RTX 3070Ti 8GB.

    I feel a bit younger...like a gamer 😉

    It's May 2022 and I have the same problem (still). Surfacebook 2Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8650U CPU @ 1.90GHz, 2112 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s). Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB Nvidia GForce GTX1060. Any ideas ?

    I have the same problem , it also lagging a little bit when i choose th object selection tool.. did you fix it or still having problem.

    Still having the problem, and it is not just a little lag...

    But I have a way around it: I use the new ''select subject'' button. It is very good (and kind of fast) at selecting most of my focus stacked subjects (mushrooms). I then use the quick selection tool to ajust the final selection. 

     

    But depending on the object you are trying to select, this may not be of any help to you..

    i found lot of errors in the last version tool problems failed to  move properly saveing cache failing in saving lag

      So annoying! Everytime I scroll through difference selectors, it fking LAGS with the lovely wheel of death. 😠

      Hi, the Object select tool in Ps 2022 has more power: it can detect several objects in one click; did you try to disable the new option "object finder"?

        Yes I did uncheked the object finder (if it is what you mean by ''disable'') and it does not make any difference.

        My processor goes up to 100% and stays that way for a very long time.

        Note that when I use the new tool (object finder) it is a lot quicker. But the selection is sometimes less accurate that the one I get by selecting with the scare.
