"Open with" defaults to 2021 Win10

Hi,

I can't double click to open .jpg files in PS 2022.

When I right click to "open with" PS 2022 is not an option, and when I select choose app, and find PS 2022, it's still opening in PS 2021.

In Regedit, PS 2022 is the default app (see screenshot).

I'm not a heavy PS user but I am for AI, and I had the same issue with AI2021 and AI2022 and just deleted 2021 so that 2022 was the only option for .pdf. I could do the same for PS2021 but wondered if there is a solution.

Thanks for reaching out. We are here to help.

 

You have done an excellent job pinpointing down to the root—just one more step to fix this out.

Windows auto-populates the Open with menu. In the same directory as your screenshot, there are other options for different apps as a, b & c.

 

Please add the address for Photoshop 2022.exe into the Photoshop.exe option as shown below. Option C in your case and option A on our device.

This change should reflect in the Open With a menu as soon as you save it.

Thanks Sameer, but it doesn't fix the issue.

Screenshot of Regedit change and subsequent OpenWith attached (after computer restart too).

Double clicking launches 2021 too.

OpenWith works for 2022, 2021 and 2020 for .psd, as does double click, although interestingly in Regedit it's the default settings, no explicit path to PS. (screenshot 3)
